WiSe 2025/26

Generative Artificial Intel-
ligence is transforming the way
we design, visualize, and commu-
nicate. In this practice-oriented
course, students of Architecture
and Urban Design will learn how
to strategically apply AI-based
tools to quickly produce com-
pelling and atmospheric project
visualizations—offering an alterna-
tive to traditional, time-consuming
rendering techniques.
The focus is on acqui-
ring concrete skills: we will work
hands-on with current AI tools
(e.g. Midjourney, DALL·E, Prome
AI, among others), develop work-
flows for creative design pro-
cesses, and explore new visual
languages for representing urban
and architectural ideas.
Real sites in Oldenburg
with transformation potential will
serve as starting points. Based on
these locations, students will de-
sign interventions, visualize them
with AI, and refine them further
through design exploration.
The aim is not only to mas-
ter the tools, but to critically and
reflectively integrate them into
one’s own design practice—exten-
ding beyond the semester.
This elective is open to
both Bachelor’s and Master’s stu-
dents in Architecture and Urban
Design. The course provides
confidence in applying generative
AI tools for fast and expressive
project visualization. Students will
develop their own AI-supported
design and representation work-
flows, apply them in practice, and
engage in group discussions on
the potentials and limitations of AI
in design practice.
The course takes place
from November 10–15 as a full-
day workshop format and will be
carried out in individual work.
